1. Maximum Capacity

Create a rough guest list before beginning the search to ensure your venue will be able to accommodate everyone. The last thing you want is to have to cut your guest list because your venue doesn’t have the capacity.

2. Catering Options

Does your venue allow outside catering, or in house only? If in house, be sure that they provide options for entrees you like. If outside catering, do they have any limitations? Confirm if any outside caterer can use the venue’s kitchen.

3. Proximity

Be sure to map out distances to the nearest hotel(s) and make it a feasible commute for your overnight guests.

4. Plan B

If you’re having an outdoor event, ensure that your venue has a second option in case of rain or poor weather conditions.

5. Multiple Events

No girl wants another bride to steal the show at her wedding. You want to confirm that no other events will be occurring on your day that would possibly intervene with your event.

6. Fire & Flower Rules

Do they allow a fire (for South Asian Weddings), lit candles, and fresh flowers on the ground? These are basic decor items so you’ll want to double check with your venue that they will have no issues with it.
